Kaunas Reservoir (or Kaunas Lagoon) is the largest artificial water reservoir in Lithuania. It was created in 1959 by damming the Nemunas River. The reservoir area – 63.5 km², length – 80 km, total coastal length – 200 km, max. width – 3,3 km, max. depth – 24.6 m. There are about 460 million m³ of water accumulated in the reservoir.Kaunas Reservoir Regional Park.  By the reservoir, Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant  is built, coasts are rich with valuable natural and architectural complexes: Open Air Museum of Lithuania (Lithuanian Folk Museum), Pažaislis monastery and church, yacht-club and marina is operating.
